In 2014, I had come to a point in my life where I was craving more. I had been in the beauty industry for years, but was no longer feeling fulfilled in terms of creativity or personal values. I noticed that the retail industry that once inspired me, now disappointed me. I was missing the element of human connection, the kind of experiences that made people genuinely happy -- and so I started to open myself up to new possibilities.
In my search for something different... it finally came to me. Across the street from my office was a boutique soap shop where everyone was walking out with the biggest smiles on their faces. It was a charming mom and pop shop offering soap treats handmade in a tiny kitchen. I realized at that moment, that this is where I would thrive. An environment where the main goal was to make people happy. Customers aren’t looking for products off the shelf, they are searching for experiences and human connection. I saw Nectar as a platform that could change the industry and serve as a model for the future of all retail business.
Today, Nectar is still true to it’s roots, but it is also much more than a soap store. It has grown into a destination for joyful, exciting self-care and uniquely delightful experiences, whether you are customizing a bespoke bath and body confection at one of our fragrance bars, or looking for the perfect gift for a friend or loved one. In fact, Nectar is dedicated to making self-care a lifestyle -- from bath and beauty treats that care for you and your family, to ingredients and processes that care for the planet, to business practices and a working environment that shows our team how much we care (“the happiest factory in Las Vegas”).
I truly believe in the notion: when you know better, you do better. That is why I have created an internal community service team we call PRO, where coaches serve to develop our teams minds and skillsets, looking outside our four walls and ourselves to identify those in need of a hug... a talk... a meal... an act of kindness.
A lot has changed since I started my journey searching for deeper meaning and fulfillment. I am proud to be a part of a thriving business built on compassion, community, craft and care. I hope to continue growing and developing our amazing Nectar family and inspire the rest of the industry to discover that the most beautiful aspect of life is taking good care of one another.
